Company 1 - Beverages

 

Swire Pacific acquired a 41% shareholding in this company - originally a wholly owned subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company - in January 2008. The company manufactures still beverages, including enhanced water, juice, tea and dairy drinks, which are then distributed by bottlers across Mainland China.

Company 2 - Property

 

Swire Properties was established in 1972, when the closure of Taikoo Sugar Refinery released a vast acreage of land on the eastern side of Hong Kong Island. The company is now a leading developer, owner and operator of mixed-use, commercial properties in Hong Kong and Mainland China, with a well-established record of creating long-term value by transforming urban areas. Its business comprises three main areas: property investment, property trading and hotel investment.

 

Swire Properties has a significant presence in Miami, Florida, where it commenced business in 1980. The company is currently developing Brickell City Centre, a large-scale, mixed-use commercial property with a residential trading component in the Brickell financial district in Miami.

 

Swire Hotels owns and manages hotels in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the U.K.

Company 3 - Catering Services

 

Cathay Pacific's wholly owned catering services division is an integral part of the airline's global operations. Drawing on over 50 years of experience in the business, CPCS caters to 39 international airlines serving Hong Kong, producing an average 65,000 meals a day and accounting for around 64% of the market. With a floor area of 51,000 square meters, the CPCS flight kitchen is Hong Kong's largest, and is also one of the world's most sophisticated.

 

The business originated in the early 1960s with Air Caterers Limited, a successful joint venture between Swire and Hongkong & Shanghai Hotels of The Peninsula Hotel fame. The operation is now wholly owned by the airline.

 

CPCS has minority shareholdings in catering units in Canada, Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines.
