The 8th Annual CUHK MBA CSR Conference 2014
"SUCCESS THROUGH CSR INNOVATION"
Let’s face it, “CSR” is an overused term and merely anyone can be “CSR”. However, not many can claim to run a business that is sustainably integrated that creates value to its immediate and external stakeholders, as well as its bottom line. In the end, businesses need to be either financially sustainable or profitable – we understand that it is a business after all.
To tackle the questions on how to be sustainable yet profitable, our CSR Committee led by an international team of CUHK MBA students are proud to bring you the 8th Annual CSR Conference on May 28th, 2014 held at the Wan chai Convention & Exhibition Centre (for ticket details, click below).
This year, we’re changing the paradigms of a conventional conference by bringing you not only industry professionals who will speak on innovative sustainable strategies on behalf of their companies, but also a dash of instant networking powered by EventX, a business case competition sponsored by Swire Pacific and a social media aspect to keep all attendees engaged.
Time:
09:00AM - 17:30PM
Ticket Rates:
HK$ 288 per Person
HK$ 246 for 3 or more people
To offer a variety of topics, we’ve formulated our conference agenda to feature the following panels:
Transform Organizations Through Innovative And Sustainable Management Practices
Rachel Chan, Convener of Let's Make a Difference, will moderate a panel on how to transform organizations through innovative and sustainable management practices. 'Doing good' should no longer be seen as a company's social responsibility but an imperative to build lasting competitive advantages. We shall look into how companies can build an engaged and productive workforce and make money by creating social and environmental benefits.
Products that Make a Difference
The immediate impact that businesses bring to their stakeholders is through products and services. Some companies have remain successful for years by adapting to market changes, producing products or delivering services which benefit the environment and society as a whole. Others succeed through identifying unmet needs and creating a new market by introducing life-changing products. Our speakers in this panel will discuss business cases and the opportunities of using such approach in Hong Kong and China.
Winning by Redesigning the Value Chain
Value chain is the blanket term of supply chain, distribution network, retail outlets, customers and employees within organization. Opportunities in achieving business and community-shared value are tremendous given the wide arrays and scale of stakeholders that a business can have along the value chain. This is challenging but interesting. Our speakers in this panel will identify the challenges in this approach but yet offer what they have done to shake-up the traditional form of a value to chain to a more sustainable one.
Stakeholder and Business Impacts via Sustainable Strategies
To devise a strategy that creates both business and stakeholder values, businesses need to understand its stakeholders as well as the societal problems around the business. It becomes even more challenging when it a corporation is trying to integrate a sustainability factor. Our speakers will go through their insights on effective means of learning stakeholder problems of a business by leveraging companies – that are sustainably minded – serving a majority of the population as practical examples.
Responsible Investing in the Asian Context:
Trends, Needs, and Opportunities
Responsible investment is not a new topic – but it is ever advancing. The investment community is impactful as they fueled projects which creating a sustainable impact. Our speakers will discuss the recent development of responsible investment, what have been the recent attention of the investment community, and the new opportunities arise through new forms of corporate sustainability / CSR activities.
