Who is CUHK CSR Committee and why are we offering this case competition?

Year in and out, we’ve managed to hold events and conferences to educate the public on corporate social responsibility. From this year on out, we feel obligated to offer a business case competition that can be put into works practically. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Swire Group to offer this year’s case competition where the winning team will be offered positions in the company to implement the team’s CSR strategy.
How will this case competition operate?
Directions & Timeline:
Round 1
Deadline:
Registration begins immediately and the deadline is April 5th, 2014.
Step 1:
Formulate a team of three persons and pick one of the three cases presented.
Step 2:
Submit a two-page proposal on your team’s idea for one of the three companies presented and why your team should be selected to present a case solution by April 5th. Remember to identify industry or company-specific issues and offer a zero net impact solution.
Semifinalists:
Announce top-9 teams on April 15th, 2014.
Round 2
Deadline:
Semifinalists will submit a 12-minute presentation video by May 2nd, 2014.
Step 1:
Formulate PPT presentation on business case solution in video
Step 2:
Submit video on YouTube or Youku and send private link to case competition committee team.
Finalist:
Announcement of the 3 finalist team on May 5th, 2014.
Finals:
May 28th, case competition finalists will present at the 8th Annual CSR Conference at the Wanchai Exhibition Centre in front of personnel from Swire Group, industry professionals and up to 320 business professionals. More information on preparation on the finals will be distributed closer to date.
How do teams apply?

How will teams be selected for the final rounds?
Teams will be scored based on creativity, practicality and feasibility of case solutions.
Who will judge the competition? How will the winning team be decided?
Judges will be comprised of professors from Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as Swire Group personnel. Teams with the best solutions based on creativity, practicality and feasibility will be selected.
What is the format of the team presentation?
On May 28th, case competition finalists will present 15-minute presentations each at the 8th Annual CSR Conference at the Wanchai Exhibition Centre in front of personnel from Swire Group, industry professionals and up to 320 business professionals. More information on preparation on the finals will be distributed closer to date.
Who is eligible to participate in the competition? Only for MBA students?
Only MBA students will be able to participate this year’s competition.
Can multiple teams from my school participate?
Yes, we welcome it!
One of our teammates can no longer participate. What are the rules regarding substitutions?
Substitutions are allowed within reason. Finalists however will need to confirm every team member’s participation by May 21st, 2014.
Are flight and accommodations provided?
Flights and accommodations are not provided, but we would be more than happy to help facilitate your bookings through our agents.
What is the grand prize?
The winner of the CSR Case Competition will receive an internship with Swire Pacific with the objective of implementing the team’s solution. Resources on enhancing the solution will be provided by Swire Pacific.
